Magaly “Gally” Jiménez Baca is a proud Chicana and Nuevo Mexicana, born and raised in the historic Martínez Town barrio of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Surrounded by the neighborhood’s deep history and nearby cemeteries, she grew up with a strong connection to memory, culture, and tradition. These early experiences shaped her interest in Chicana/o identity, Mexican American traditions, mental health, art, and community.

For three years, Gally served as the Art and History Curatorial Assistant at the Albuquerque Museum, where she combined her love for art and history with her community roots. She is also a published poet, weaving cultural pride into her writing, style, and artistic expression. Through artwork, poetry, and instructional method, she continues to honor the richness of her identity while nurturing a deep appreciation for nostalgia.

Currently, she works as a social-emotional educator with Albuquerque Public Schools, supporting elementary students in developing coping strategies and strengthening self-regulation skills that promote emotional well-being.
